Last Tuesday morning, the Araphoe Public Schools participated in an Emergency Safety Drill. The elementary and high school joined staff members and walked over to Prairie Pines. The Furnas County Sheriff’s office assisted. Sheriff Kurt Kapperman stated “The drlll went great. We made some changes from last year that I feel made it safer for the students and easier for the sheriff’s office to protect them. Izaak Walton League plans for 70th Anniversary
The autumn pheasant season will kick off with a special celebration for the Izaak Walton League of Arapahoe.
The Arapahoe league is planning a free-will offering meal along with their annual night before pheasant season event on October 30, which will begin around 5:30 pm. There will be a trap shoot and a giveaway of a Henry Golden Boy Rifle. League spokesperson Christie Anderson said, “Look for a few extra activities beyond (the usual), we really want to celebrate and make it big.”
This year marks, the 70th anniversary of founding the league in Arapahoe.
