Honarary membership awards presented by FFA

DSC_0018The custodial staff at Arapahoe Public Schools received Honorary Memberships to the Arapahoe High School FFA organization Monday night during the FFA’s annual awards banquet. Presenting the awards was Cooper Breinig, far right, FFA President to Bruce Sander, Cindy Huxoll and Cheryl Chambers.


Mirror wins awards at state convention

The Nebraska Press Association held their annual convention IMG_3567Friday and Sataurday, April 23 and 24 at the Holiday Inn in Kearney.
On Saturday night, dailies and weeklies award winners were named in various categories. Judging this year’s contest were the Arkansas Press Association.
The Mirror staff earned second place in Class B Weekly for Special Single Edition or Section for their Furnas County 4-H Fair section. The judges commented “Lots of good pictures, the editorial content was well done.
The Mirror staff earned a second place Class B in the Specialty Pages category for their Church Page series. The judges commented the page had good information all in one place.

Cub scouts earn wolf patch

The Arapahoe Cub Scouts (l-r) Gavrie Strickland, Eli Whipple, Ander Wasenius, Kolter Eidson, Branson Tejcka, Kade Fisher, and Landen boyscouts3Hoefs went to Kearney for a fun afternoon. They ate out, visited the Nebraska Firefighters Museum, and went for a hike where this bridge crosses the Platte River at Fort Kearny State Park. The hike was the last requirement for the second graders to earn their wolf patch. The scouts met one last time on Sunday to launch model rockets before summer.-Photo courtesy Steph Hoefs.
