Nebraska Beef Quality Assurance trainings set for April 17 and 18

Nebraska Extension and Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) will be offering local BQA trainings. The dates and locations include:

•Tuesday, April 17, 1:00-3:30 P.M. CST, NCTA Educational Center, Curtis, NE

•Tuesday, April 17, 6:30-9:00 P.M. CST, Simmy’s Lakeside Grill, Alma, NE

•Wednesday, April 18, 1:00-3:30 P.M. MST, Lied Public Library, Imperial, NE

Rob Eirich, Nebraska Director of BQA, and Erin Laborie, Nebraska Extension Beef Educator, will be presenting BQA best management practices, animal health and antimicrobial stewardship, and the 2016 National Beef Quality Audit information. Beef cattle producers are committed to producing a quality, wholesome and safe beef product for consumers.  These meetings will update producers on implementing BQA principles to ensure quality cattle care and handling.

All producers are invited to attend. These in-person trainings are a certification opportunity for those producers needing certification or recertification. There is a $20 fee for those wanting to become BQA certified/recertified, which is good for a three year time period.
