Freshman Cord Frink represented the Arapahoe Golf Team at the Class D Nebraska State Golf Meet. He traveled to North Platte to golf at the Lake Maloney Golf Course on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 22 and 23.
Frink had a solid first round of the tournament. He finished with an 89 and was tied for 30th. The first nine holes were not bad for Frink. He was five over par without finishing a hole worse than a bogey. The second nine caught up with him. He doubled or tripled-bogeyed 10, 11, and 12. He finished 12-over par. He finished with 17-over for the first day.
The first nine holes caught up to Frink on the second day. He had a bogey or worse on eight of the nine holes. He did get his only birdie of the meet on hole six. He finished the par four in three strokes. Frink finished with a 96, 24-over on the second day.
Cord Frink finished tied for 45th at the State Tournament by shooting a 185. Ryan Weiss of Franklin beat West Holt’s Mason Hale in a two-hole playoff to take the Individual State Title. They both finished with a 151, one stroke ahead of Loomis’s Andrew Lauby. West Holt became back-to-back State Champions with their 639. Franklin hit a 652 for State Runner-Up. Medicine Valley rounded out the top three with a 714. Fellow RPAC schools Dundy County-Stratton and Paxton placed ninth and 10th respectively.
