On June 21st, the longest day of the year and the summer solstice thousands of people joined together to show their support for those affected by Alzheimer’s disease. Alzheimer’s hits 5.3 million. The Good Samaritan Society in Arapahoe joined in this year to show their support for the debilitating disease. Everyone met at the chapel and volunteers showed up to help assist with the resident wheelchair rides.
The day symbolized a day of love and support. The Good Samaritan Society had a fantastic turn out and the Arapahoe junior high volleyball team, led by Kate Warner, came and volunteered their time to help push the resident’s wheelchairs. The volunteers pushed the residents from the nursing home to the South Park and around the walking track one lap and returned back to the chapel for some watermelon and conversation.
