Progress continues on school construction

When you drive by the new construction at Arapahoe Public Schools, changes have been rapidly happening inside and outside. Recently Arapahoe Superintendent of Schools, Dr. George Griffith and members of the Board of Education Building and Grounds committee did a walk through of the elementary to create a punch list for architects and general contractor Haussman Construction to address items prior to completion of the elementary wing.

According to Dr. Griffith teachers will be able to access their rooms when the front concert is completed while the administration and classroom areas should be ready by the middle of July with the rest of the new construction to be completed by August 1.

The kitchen and gymnasium are still a work in progress, though the gymnasium floor has been installed. The commons area was also reviewed last week.

Work continues transforming the small gymnasium into locker rooms and weight room area. Dr. Griffith said that they hope to have access to at least one locker room at the beginning of school.

The complete remodel should be completed in October-November while the timeline of the current high school has not been set but could happen anytime between November and January 1. Landscaping will probably not take place until next spring.
