The Furnas County Sheriffs Office participated in the National Drink Drive Lose Campaign that ran from August 17 to September 3, 2018. During this time six Deputies of the Furnas County Sheriff’s Office worked a total of 87 hours of traffic enforcement overtime in addition to their regular shift work. The Sheriffs Office will be reimbursed for $2,431.20 of overtime wages from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety that was accrued during this special enforcement.
Deputies had a total of 30 traffic contacts during the special enforcement period. During the enforcement period, the following citations were issued: speeding — 7, no proof of insurance — 1, leave the scene of an accident — 1 and one fugitive was arrested on warrants.
The Furnas County Sheriffs Office would like to encourage all motorist to wear their seatbelts and designate a sober driver.
