AHS basketball teams struggle during season opener with Overton

The Arapahoe High School  Warriors opened their season by traveling to play the Overton Eagles on Thursday, November 29.  They were scheduled to play their first home game of the season, but it was postponed due to weather.  The Warriors were slated to play Red Cloud and will now host them on January 2.

Overton had their offense clicking to start the game.  They came out of the gates and dropped 23 points in the first quarter.  Arapahoe scored 20 points in the first half.  Overton added another eight points in the second quarter to take a 31-20 lead into halftime.  The Eagles came out of the half with another strong quarter.  They added 17 points in the third and 21 in the fourth.  Arapahoe scored 21 points in the second half.  Overton flew to a 69-41 win in the opening game of the season.

The Arapahoe Lady Warriors began their season with a road game.  They traveled to play the Overton Eagles on Thursday, November 29.  They were scheduled to play Red Cloud for their first home game, but the game was postponed due to weather.

Arapahoe and Overton were in a low scoring affair in the first half.  Both teams scored six points in the first quarter.  Arapahoe took the edge in the second with seven points.  Overton kept the game close with five points.  The Lady Warriors held a 13-11 lead at the half.  Overton found some offense in the third quarter.  They came out of the half to score 12 points.  Arapahoe struggled to score in the second half.  They scored two points in each of the final two quarters of the game.  Overton added another seven points in the fourth quarter to cruise to a 30-17 win.
